About Products at American Express
American Express India Business focus on providing payment solutions to our customers by delivering high quality and world class product and services. We make it easier, safer and more rewarding for consumers and businesses to purchase the things they need and for merchants to sell their goods and services through innovative payment, travel and expense management solutions.
The Product team is a dynamic business that manages Consumer Card portfolios and Card Member experiences across India. This team focuses on product value proposition, Card member experience, P&L management, portfolio performance and servicing optimization initiatives for Consumer Card products in the India market.
Roles & Responsibilities
The position will have responsibility for development of high quality, differentiated products that will advance American Express's leadership position through aggressive growth of the customer base. This role places a focus on innovation and maximizing existing portfolio and developing new revenue and profit streams for the product portfolio. The incumbent will be responsible to:
Develop product strategies, establish business plans & lead initiatives to grow the American Express Consumer Charge card portfolio in India
Deliver on key business drivers like enhancing, product value propositions, billings, customer lending and average spends, portfolio quality
Understand the market using analytics to develop insights on what the customer wants – product gaps/unmet needs of the customers
Collaborate with Sales/Acquisition teams on various Product-Sales initiatives to drive portfolio growth.
Work with other teams and business managers to optimize overall Blue Box business growth, cultivate cross sell opportunities to deepen customer relationships
Interface with multiple functions such as Operations, Finance, Legal and Compliance to resolve issues related to the product
Work closely with New Product Development team to launch new products and to enhance current products
Track competition closely and launch best-in-class features on Amex products

Enhance the value proposition of existing Charge card products
Understand the stated/unstated needs of the customer & influence effectively to design solutions oriented towards solving customer problems

Qualifications & Experience:
8 – 12 yrs.+ of proven track record in the Financial sector (MBA preferred)
Exceptional ability to think strategically, challenging the status quo to deliver product innovation resulting in competitive advantage and commercial performance
Superior analytical skills required; demonstrated ability to synthesize complex data into
winning strategies and executable plans. Comfort with ambiguity and "clean sheet of
paper" thinking
Demonstrated success in marketing and marketing strategy roles with a deep understanding of Cardproducts
Passionate customer advocacy with distinguished ability to identify and fulfill customer needs
Demonstrated ability to deliver solutions with superior customer experience and innovative approaches
Strong communication and interpersonal, along with proven ability to lead and inspire
cross-functional teams; must be able to influence at all levels
