The team you will be a part of
The Engineering team discovers, develops and evaluates new product ideas, enhancements, or strategic product extensions, and translates research discoveries into usable and marketable products. Leads, plans and tracks all phases of the product life cycle, from inception to introduction into the marketplace. Coordinates with various functions to ensure successful product development and implementation.
This role in summary
Responsible for Data analysis of competitive intelligence inputs from Whirlpool internal teams as well as a plethora of external resources. Must distill findings into useful insights for engineering, consumer research, industrial design, and marketing partners. As this role sits within the Advanced Development & Innovation team it is critical for aiding teams in creating a clearer view of the longer term strategies of the competition, well beyond their current launches and publicized activities.
Your responsibilities will include
Lead competitive product, IP, and trends monitoring
Proactively provide regular updates to the Advanced Development project teams
Leverage the right subject matter experts to better inform competitive technological futuring summaries
Identify and Coordinate strategic and tactical competitive units to be torn-down using the Competitive Cost Analysis team
Identify and coordinate strategic units warranting consumer feedback, at time by way have long term in home use testing
Lead competitive deep dives with cross functional teams before and after project chartering
Enable technology, project decision making at planning stage
Gather insights for regular industry and parts vendor shows summarizing findings and determining impact to the Advanced Development strategy
Minimum requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Consumer Research, Engineering, Product Design, or Marketing
Minimum of 10+ years experience in Consumer Research, Engineering, Product Design, or Marketing
Experience with working in cross functional teams
Experience in translate consumer research into Voice of Engineering
Preferred skills and experiences
Experience in consumer electronics or major home appliances
Experience in leadership capabilities, creative thinking skills, ability to drive change
Experience in web scrapping, data nalytics
Strong communication, persuasion and influencing skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Proficient at the art of storytelling both verbally and through visuals
Excellent organizational, verbal / written communication, and influencing skills
