The FX Supervisor is responsible for leading a team of FX Artists and managing the day-to-day production needs. The FX Supervisor will supervise the FX team in the technical and artistic aspects of the visual effects production, ensuring the highest-quality photorealistic results are produced within the time frame given. You will be working closely with the Producer, VFX Supervisor, Head of FX and other department supervisors.
Must-Have
A minimum of 8 years experience as an FX TD
Previous leadership experience, preferably in a Supervisor or Lead role
Extensive knowledge of Houdini
Proven experience in producing photoreal and magical effects, including elements such as smoke, fire, clouds, water, steam and explosions, plus experience with particle and voxel based rendering
An excellent creative eye for detail, a strong sense of timing and composition, and a thorough understanding of techniques and technologies relating to physical and procedural simulation in computer graphics
Familiarity with common production and pipeline issues and how to solve them
Excellent problem-solving skills
Experience in project management, balancing quality with time constraints
High-level feature film experience in live-action VFX Films
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Experience in leading and mentoring teams of FX Artists
Excellent artistic and technical skills
Able to provide artistic and technical solutions to the FX Team
Nice to Have
Experience with Solaris and USD based production workflows/pipelines
Experience with using Renderman in a production environment
Intermediate to Expert knowledge of 2D software such as Nuke
Intermediate to Expert knowledge of Python, VEX, Hscript
Experience working across multiple sites and time zones
Experience in live-action FX work preferred
Maya and/or equivalent 3D software knowledge

The base salary range for this full-time position is $124,000 to $175,000. DNEG salary ranges are determined by function, department, level and location. An individual's pay within a given range is determined by their transferrable or job-related skills and work experience. Salary ranges are modified from time to time based on external market data collected through our third-party surveys.
