The Engineering Director, Network Operations Center East, will be responsible for maintaining the highest level of availability for American Express' data network services. In this Position the director will lead the Network Operations Center east team, managing a talented team of network engineers supporting Network Routing and Switching, Load Balancing Services, DNS and DHCP, and large global wide area network. They will be focused on alert response, investigating various reported incidents, and working with American Express technical teams to resolve complex problems.
Provide 'hands on' technical support for incident circumvention as needed
Assess and provide feedback on monitoring and availability topics
Drive a world-class customer service culture within the team and through personal example.
Work outside of business hours as needed during major incidents (24x7x365 on call).
Hire and retain talent. Build, manage and lead a team of highly talented engineers.
Works closely with infrastructure, product, engineering and solutions on feature sets that impact multiple platforms and products.
Qualifications:
• Over 10 years of experience in supporting large enterprise/data center networks, and at least one year of demonstrated leadership experience over a team of engineers.
• Expert level knowledge in Cisco NX-OS/IOS, and Arista.
• Expert level knowledge in F5 LTM and GTM products.
• Expert level knowledge in TCP/IP analysis.
• Strong understanding of network security best practices.
• Strong understanding of software-defined data center concepts.
• Strong understanding of TCL and Python scripting languages.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage high pressure situations.
Education:
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or another related IT field preferred.
• Valid CCNP certification within the past 5 years.
