Job Description
BNY's Risk & Compliance Assurance and Testing (RCAT) team is a global, independent 2nd Line of Defense testing function that facilitates pro-active self-identification and remediation of issues, assesses design and operating effectiveness of the firm's processes and controls, validates adherence to regulatory requirements as well as delivering holistic risk management to the organization. RCATs primary directive is conducting assessments of First and Second Line of Defense processes/controls to validate adherence with laws/rules/regulations and Policies/Procedures. Specifically, the team is comprised of two key segments: Quality Assurance (covers 2LOD processes/controls) and Compliance Testing (covers 1LOD processes/controls) along with the Global Methodology & Planning team that sets the foundation for driving consistent and efficient standards & practices across RCAT and supports ongoing operations of the team. 
RCAT is seeking a director to functionally manage the central Compliance Testing team and locally manage the Risk and Compliance Quality Assurance teams and to oversee the delivery of ERA's strategy and objectives.
In this role you will:
Partner with the Risk & Compliance colleagues, appropriate 1stline and 3rdline partners to improve efficiency, effectiveness, productivity, and/or controls. 
Provide subject matter expertise and industry experience to articulate status of controls within the business and guide risk & compliance managers to ensure their adherence to policies, procedures, and guidelines. 
Contribute to efforts to develop a strong operational risk culture by continuously assessing the effectiveness of the second line of defense for the assigned business unit. Build relationships with roles in Risk Management, Compliance and Audit as well as roles in the assigned business lines to drive the timely completion of operational risk related deliverables, issue resolution and operational loss estimation and remediation.
Actively collaborate with all business CROs and CCOs to manage and mitigate areas of operational, compliance and other risks that might arise from inadequate or failed internal processes, people and systems, or external events. Escalate serious instances of risk management unawareness to senior management. 
Develop routine reports on business unit compliance as required and deliver these to business management and the respective governance forums overseeing Risk & Compliance (e.g., Corporate Operational Risk Committee, Compliance Senior Leadership Team, Third Party Risk Management Committee, Senior Risk and Control Committee)
Use influence and negotiation skills to ensure the business' implementation of effective controls to address identified risks, ensure the establishment of effective mitigation processes and chains of ownership and impel positive change in risk management behaviors.
Provide periodic updates to regulatory bodies on the status of key Risk & Compliance remediation deliverables, as well as results of the ongoing assessment of the Risk & Compliance framework
Recruit, direct, motivate and develop professional staff, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth, and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team 
Ensure the teams are equipped to operationalize and attain multi-regional / risk coverage objectives. Assist with the identification and development of talent to ensure appropriate succession planning
Ensure appropriate financial and human resource allocation. Modified based upon local regulations/requirements.

Required Qualifications and Skills
Strategic thinking / problem solving skills to facilitate the identification of problems, the design and evaluation of options and execution of solutions.
Ability to lead, inspire and motivate a team into consistent high performance.
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in interactions with staff, peers, and senior management; ability to prepare executive level presentations.
A leader who is fast-paced, high-energy, change oriented and can work independently.
Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience 
18 years of total work experience, with 5 years of management experience
