Department Profile
The Fixed Income Division is comprised of Interest Rate and Currency Products, Credit Products and Distribution. Professionals in the Division assess and actively manage risk, trade securities, and structure as well as execute innovative transactions in the fast-paced and constantly changing global markets. The Commodities Division is a market leader in energy, metals, and agricultural product trading worldwide whose professional's trade in both physical and derivative commodity risk.
Background on the Team
The Derivatives and Structured Product desk provides bespoke bonds and derivatives solutions to clients. Each desk has dedicated desk lawyers supporting the legal structuring side of the business.
This new hire will support the Derivatives and Structured Product desk in Hong Kong.
This new hire will also work together with an existing desk lawyer in Mumbai who supports the Derivatives and Structured Product desk in London and back up each other to the extent necessary.
Primary Responsibilities
·Drafting and reviewing termsheets and legal documentation for structured products (notes and warrants) and SPV issued repack notes;
·Drafting and reviewing documentation for derivatives transactions;
·Dealing with trade approvals, including uploading documents in the system and following up for approvals if needed;
·Settlement, rating and listing of securities – liaising with internal ops teams and external services providers;
·Dealing with document requests and documentation reconciliation;
·Assisting with trade reporting data including providing treasury function with statistics;
·Assisting with post-trade reporting to financial regulators;
·Liaising with internal teams for approvals for invoices.
Responsibilities
·Assisting with the account opening and execution process;
·Maintaining spreadsheets, various metrics and databases;
·Assisting with audits of SPVs;
·Assisting with firm wide initiatives eg LIBOR remediation.
Skills desired
·Law graduate with minimum 1-2 years of experience and knowledge in finance/structured products/derivatives documentation preferred.
·Excellent oral and written communication skills;
·Proficiency in English;
·Good Word/Excel knowledge;
·Organized, pro-active, ability to multi-task and work efficiently, detail-oriented and self-sufficient;
·Willingness to work in dynamic environment and the ability to excel under pressure;
·Proficiency and interest in technology and systems development.
