Division
LCD comprises of Legal, Compliance, Global Financial Crimes and Regulatory Relations.
The Legal Department provides guidance, requirements and procedures for understanding and complying with the laws, regulations and Firm policies that apply to our businesses.
The Global Compliance Department identifies applicable Compliance Obligations and maintains a Firmwide Compliance Risk management program, including Compliance Risks that transcend business lines, legal entities and jurisdictions of operation.
Global Financial Crimes is responsible for the development and governance of the Firm's financial crime prevention efforts across all regions and business units. Global Financial Crimes is comprised of the Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, Anti-boycott, Anti-Corruption (ACG) and Government and Political Activities Compliance (GPAC) programs.
The Global Regulatory Relations Group (GRRG) is responsible for strategic and centralized management of the supervisory activities of Morgan Stanley's regulators and related developments globally, with a focus on regulatory reviews and examinations and continuous monitoring activities. GRRG serves as the central point of contact for the regulatory staff responsible for supervisory activities at Morgan Stanley entities and for timely reporting to Firm management and other governance or management bodies, as appropriate, on those relationships and supervisory processes, including areas of significant regulatory focus or concern.
LCD Center of Excellence - Mumbai (LCD CoE) is a part of Morgan Stanley's Global In-house Center, which provides global support to LCD and is an integral part of Firm and LCD strategy.
Team: MSIM Compliance
The Investment Management Compliance Department is seeking a compliance officer to join the Public Side Advisory Compliance team, which covers Morgan Stanley Investment Management's (MSIM) business lines that invest in public markets. This role will specifically cover equities and multi-asset investment teams, including portfolio management, trading and research personnel. This seat is in a highly dynamic atmosphere that requires a successful balance of quick and comprehensive advice. Daily tasks will be primarily related to compliance and regulatory risks associated with buy side investment activity and will aid in the Firm's compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and relevant policies and procedures. In addition to business stakeholders, this individual may work with colleagues in the Legal and Compliance Division across all lines of business and all regions globally.
Primary Responsibilities
Support the IM Core Compliance Team in coverage of affiliated trade monitoring and related board and internal reporting, including:
Review Rule 10f-3, Rule 17a-7, Rule 17e-1, Agency Cross Trades, SWAP clearing trades, Principal trades, affiliated futures trades and OTC Derivatives for Morgan Stanley Investment Management, Calvert and Eaton Vance proprietary and third party sub-advised funds and ERISA accounts for compliance with applicable rule conditions on a post-trade basis, including review of completed purchase reports and checklists submitted by the investment teams.
Prepare equity underwriting log and review allocation of equity deals.
Prepare affiliated trading reports and trade error metrics for the quarterly Board of Directors Meetings.
Review Section 13G filings
Perform ongoing adhoc requests
Work closely with various internal parties including Investment Teams, COO/Trading Governance team, Operations, IT and the Legal Department
Other Responsibilities
Support the IM Code of Ethics Team in performance of daily reviews and tasks, including:
Conduct weekly reviews and action tasks within the Supervisory Dashboard Roster
Conduct/act as back-up for Trade Pre-clearance requests within the IMTPC system for EMEA and India
Perform post trade reviews for EMEA and India
Conduct paper statement reviews for Trade Pre-Clearance and holding period violations, globally (with the exception of Japan) for both Public and Private MSIM employees
Requirements
Experience
University degree and/or professional qualification preferably in Accounting, Law, Finance or Business
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years professional experience in Asset Management Risk and / or Compliance

Working knowledge of the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, the Investment Company Act of 1940, ERISA, UCITS and other securities laws and applicable regulation preferred but not required
Coverage
Monday to Friday from 1.30 pm to 10.30 pm India time with flexibility on standard working hours for time sensitive matters (including India Public Holidays).
