Job Summary
As a Software Engineering Manager for the ONTAP File System Group , you will drive engineering projects and development support by collaborating with cross-functional teams across NetApp. You will direct the activities of a software systems development function and a quality assurance function for building and maintaining solutions in ONTAP. You will impact the planning, execution, and delivery of parallel projects enabling NetApp customers to embrace Hybrid Cloud and software-defined solutions.
Job Requirements
Lead a team of high performing software development and test engineers
Contribute expertise to software architecture and design of distributed system features
Facilitate product design, implementation and support, including getting hands-on as needed
Provide coaching and career development for members of your team
Responsible for ensuring the timely and high-quality release of modules in ONTAP
Work closely with product management and customers to build the best product
Take responsibility for results including costs, methods and staffing
Strong oral and written communication skills are essential, Clear understanding of the product development cycle and project management
Experience with developing budgets and predicting project costs, Demonstrated ability to manage professional level employees
Ability to understand and apply new technologies
Experience in hands-on systems software development
Experience with the systems engineering domain requiring concepts such as computer architecture, operating systems, file systems, networking, algorithms & data structures
Experience in managing software development projects with C/C++ in LINUX/UNIX environments
Experience with storage technologies or cloud technologies is a plus
Education
BTech in Computer Science,or a related field required with a minimum of 10-15 years of related experience of which at least 5+ years of experience as a people manager is required
