What you need to know about the role
We are looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to help us strengthen our world-class global risk prevention and mitigation systems to successfully combat cybercrime.

Meet our team
Our team fits into the overall Risk Engineering team which is responsible for fraud detection, risk management, and regulatory compliance services across PayPal - globally. We design, develop, enhance, and support services that get called across every interaction between PayPal and its users and partners. To achieve this, we are always looking at advances in technology like AI, Machine learning, and data science and tying those back to business needs. In this versatile role, you will be responsible for helping shape the future of mission-critical risk systems. You will be collaborating closely with engineering, product, and operations to design and develop features for our highly complex and heavily distributed risk environment. Our engineers build strong competencies in data structures and algorithms, along with a deep understanding of business processes.

Your day to day
In your day-to-day role you will be responsible for
Writing high proficient codeusing Java

Development and testing of high-quality product features spanning multiple product domains and integration with REST API's

Participate in formal and informal code reviews to ensure code quality.

Actively contribute to our automated test suite to enable speedy and reliable continuous integration.

Work with engineering managers, architects, engineers & QA to develop innovative solutions that meet market needs with respect to functionality, performance, reliability, realistic implementation schedules, and adherence to development goals and principles.

Provide technical guidance and assistance to other software engineers.

Identifying areas of technical improvement and make detailed business cases for improvements or new areas of opportunities.

Ensuring all deliverables adhere to the timelines, quality, and performance

You will need to bring your depth of knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm to do a great job and never settle for just "ok".

We are looking for candidates who will take ownership and pride in their work and will exhibit this behavior in everything they do.

You are someone that strives to really understand the nuts and bolts of how things work and can jump in and keep delving deeper until you understand the architecture, design, and code at a level where you would be able to confidently make improvements to the code base.

You may mentor other team members and will need to be able to communicate effectively to guide and instruct them.
