And we'll do it with the utmost integrity, and in an environment where everyone is seen, heard and feels like they belong.Join Team Amex and let's lead the way together.Functional Description:The Global Risk and Compliance organization, led by the Chief Risk Officer, is American Express' Independent Risk Management (IRM) function. The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team is responsible for establishing and maintaining the Company's overall risk management and governance framework. The team is also responsible for ensuring that risk management activities are being conducted in a manner compliant with regulatory requirements and expectations. The team aggregates and reports on key risk management and oversight activities to the relevant management and Board risk committees.Roles & Responsibilities:The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the creation of the Company's enterprise-wide risk identification and aggregation program, including but not limited to defining the identification criteria, identifying the risk universe, establishing a quantitative materiality framework for the assessment of these risks, and the aggregation/reporting based on the established risk taxonomy.Support the Head of ERM in establishing a risk identification framework including defining a standardized risk taxonomy and risk universe for the Company that can be cascaded and consistently linked with other enterprise-wide risk and controls frameworks.Assess various materiality criteria for establishing a consistent risk universe and support the capital planning scenario design process as appropriate.Support the risk assessment of the Company's risk universe (i.e., inherent and residual risk) including the assessment factors, identifying data sources for supporting the risk assessments and executing on them periodically.Conduct ad hoc analysis to risk leadership on the risk universe and underlying drivers of the risk profile for each material risk.Create, own and conduct training requirements related to the risk identification, taxonomy and related governance processes.Support the creation and publication of risk related reporting to the appropriate senior leadership, management, and Board committees and support management's engagement with regulatory bodies related to the risk identification and assessment processes.Minimum Qualifications:8+ years of experience in risk management and governance or a similar role.Masters degree in a relevant quantitative field like Finance, Economics, Finance and Risk Engineering, etc. or relevant work experience in the risk management space.Ability to work independently and across a matrix organization partnering with business partners, functional owners, capabilities, technology teams and external stakeholders.Understanding of the regulatory landscape for large banks including specific supervisory guidance around risk management frameworks (e.g., OCC Heightened Standards).An understanding of foundational risk management frameworks including financial and non-financial risks faced by a financial institution and their potential impacts on the Company's operating environment.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (specifically Word, PowerPoint and Excel).Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to synthesize complex information sets effectively and succinctly for consumption by regulators, senior risk leadership and Executive Committee members.Comfortable with bringing structure and thought leadership to changing priorities and ambiguous requirements and delivering on insightful outcomes that support risk management objectives for the Company.Strong attention to detail and sense of end-to-end ownership of processes and deliverables.Preferred QualificationsSpecific training or experience with roles in the Enterprise Risk Management space, particularly with Risk Identification and Taxonomy related activities, Risk Assessments and Governance Frameworks.Experience working on or supporting leadership for U.S. regulatory engagements is desired but not required.CFA or FRM certificationWe back our colleagues and their loved ones with benefits and programs that support their holistic well-being.
