Position: Manager – TPAP Risk Operations
Role Overview:
As a Manager in TPAP Risk Operations, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing all risk-related operations specific to our TPAP license for UPI transactions. This role includes ensuring compliance with regulatory and risk management requirements, working closely with banks, and NPCI, and collaborating with internal teams such as fraud analytics and Compliance. In addition, you will act as a key liaison for understanding fraud patterns, conducting voice-of-customer (VOC) activities to identify fraud trends, and providing direct feedback to the fraud analytics team to enhance model development.
Key Responsibilities:
•Oversee the management and operational risk framework for TPAP, ensuring compliance with NPCI and RBI requirements related to UPI transactions.
•Act as a liaison between internal teams, banks, NPCI, and other stakeholders to address compliance, risk operations, and fraud control matters.
•Conduct thorough reviews of TPAP-related risk controls, ensuring that appropriate measures are in place to mitigate fraud, operational risk, and security breaches.
•Collaborate with the fraud analytics team, providing insights and feedback based on TPAP operations to improve model development and rule configuration.
•Conduct detailed reviews and analyses of customer transactions, identifying potential fraud patterns or emerging threats, and ensuring timely remediation.
•Perform VOC (voice of customer) activities with sample customers to understand emerging fraud MOs (methods of operation) and identify trends or vulnerabilities.
•Work closely with product and engineering teams to develop and enhance risk controls and fraud prevention mechanisms for TPAP operations.
•Monitor regulatory updates and ensure that all risk operations comply with evolving standards from NPCI, RBI, and other relevant authorities.
•Prepare and present operational risk reports to senior management, highlighting areas of concern, trends, and recommendations for action.
•Coordinate audits and respond to queries from regulatory authorities, banks, and NPCI regarding TPAP risk management and compliance.
Qualifications:
•A bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Finance, Data Analytics, or related fields.
•4-5 years of experience in risk operations, fraud management, or a similar role in the payments or fintech industry, preferably with experience in UPI/TPAP operations.
•Strong understanding of TPAP (Third-Party Application Provider) frameworks, UPI payment systems, and regulatory requirements from NPCI and RBI.
•Experience in managing operational risks, compliance audits, and developing risk controls in a high-volume transaction environment.
•Proven ability to work with cross-functional teams, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders such as banks and NPCI.
•Excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with a focus on risk mitigation and compliance reporting.
•Familiarity with fraud analytics, transaction monitoring systems, and customer-side interactions for fraud detection.
•Ability to conduct VOCs with customers, assess fraud MOs, and provide actionable insights to analytics and risk teams.
Preferred Skills:
•Experience working in a regulated fintech or payments environment, particularly with UPI systems or other large-scale transaction platforms.
•Knowledge of fraud detection models, real-time monitoring systems, and regulatory compliance frameworks.
•Prior experience in liaison roles with NPCI, RBI, and banks is a plus.
