Embedded in a team of specialists, you take responsibility for worldwide Oil & Gas projects, executed by the Business Area EAD within the Transformation of Industry.
Seeking a highly skilled and experienced Level 3 ABB Certified Motor and Drives Engineer to join our engineering/ site team. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge of ABB motor and drive systems, with a proven track record of installing, troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing these systems. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles, strong technical expertise, and the ability to work independently while providing support for motor and drive-related projects.
How You'll Make an Impact
1. Installation and Commissioning:
- Lead the installation, configuration, and commissioning of ABB motor and drive systems.
- Ensure compliance with all safety standards and engineering protocols during installation and commissioning processes.
2. Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
- Diagnose and resolve complex issues with ABB motor and drive systems in a timely manner, minimizing downtime.
- Perform preventive maintenance on ABB drives and motors, ensuring system reliability and performance.
- Identify and address potential issues in motor and drive systems to prevent future failures.
3. Technical Support:
- Provide high-level technical support to both internal teams and external customers for ABB motor and drive systems.
- Offer expert advice on system upgrades, performance optimization, and best practices for motor and drive operation.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex drive or motor-related challenges.
4. System Optimization: (OPTIONAL ADDED VALUE)
- Analyze system performance data and recommend upgrades or adjustments to optimize efficiency and reduce energy consumption.
- Implement solutions for energy-saving initiatives, improving operational efficiency across motor and drive systems.
5. Training and Documentation:
- Train junior engineers and technicians on ABB motor and drive systems, ensuring skill development and knowledge transfer.
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, maintenance logs, troubleshooting procedures, and service reports.
6. Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all work complies with local and international safety standards, industry regulations, and company policies.
- Promote a culture of safety and ensure the proper handling of motor and drive components during all phases of the project.
7. Project Support:
- Participate in project planning, budgeting, and execution for motor and drive installations and upgrades.
- Liaise with project managers and other engineering disciplines to ensure project timelines, specifications, and budgets are met.

- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Certifications: (MUST REQUIREMENT)
- Level 3 ABB Motor and Drives Certification (required).
- Additional certifications in electrical systems or automation (preferred).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in motor and drive systems, with a focus on ABB products.
- Strong experience in troubleshooting, installation, and commissioning of ABB variable frequency drives (VFDs), motors, and associated systems.
- Proficiency with ABB's ACS, ACH, and DCS series drives.
- Experience with software tools like ABB DriveTools, Control Builder, or similar programming/configuration tools.
- Experience in the industrial, manufacturing, or process control sectors is a plus.
- Skills & Competencies:
- Expertise in the operation and maintenance of ABB motor and drive systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with internal teams and customers.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical circuits, control systems, and automation technologies.
- Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, system diagrams, and manuals.
- Experience in project management, document management and occupational health and safety.
- Very good knowledge of English
