This role in summary
As a Product Safety and Regulatory Compliance Senior Data Analyst within Whirlpool's Global Product Safety and Regulatory Affairs (GSR) organization, you will have the opportunity to work with Regional Safety Managers, Product Safety Managers (PM's), Product Specialists and our internal laboratory personnel to develop analysis and reporting tools used as the foundation for product investigations, proactively understand issues pertaining to alleged product safety concerns, and provide early warning alerting on new or rising incidents and issues to the internal Safety team. In this role, your work will contribute to the development and implementation of the next generation of reporting and analytical tools using suitable contemporary technologies in order to support the GSR vision and GSR teams based around the globe.
Your responsibilities will include
Develop and manage business intelligence solutions for the organization
Analyze business requirements and processes and make recommendations to leadership for implementation; demonstrate understanding of business requirements
Improve and streamline standard processes regarding data flow and data quality to improve data accuracy, viability and value; Identify opportunities to optimize processes to reduce efforts using automation in data collection, data analysis, etc.
Provide ongoing development and maintenance of an operational data store and enterprise data warehouse using BI best practices, relational structures, dimensional data modeling, structured query language skills, data warehouse and reporting techniques
Compare risk assessment approaches across regional networks to help with risk research
Investigate and assess potential risk factors that may arise from claims, lawsuits, and data analysis
Make recommendations for mitigating risks, reducing costs, and mapping processes for tracking risks and analysis
Assist in the planning, development, and implementation of operational risk frameworks, policies, guidelines, standards, and procedures
Develop data analyses, interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques; analyses and techniques not limited to predictive modeling, forecasting, population segmenting, distribution fitting, etc.
Provide detailed insights on data patterns and impacts on business through contemporary reporting tools and methods
Proactively escalate issues to stakeholders for corrective actions
Organize and deliver training when required/appropriate
Minimum requirements
BE or BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Data Sciences, or related field
9+ year experience in Safety & Regulatory/Quality/GSS/ Manufacturing/Commercial/EHSS/Finance role, with functional knowledge and experience with descriptive & prescriptive Business Analytics and Business Intelligence.
Preferred skills and experiences
Proficient in strategies, applications, data, technologies used by an organization for data collection, analysis (quantitative and qualitative) and generating insights to derive strategic business opportunities
Proven planning, thought leadership, and decision-making skills
Demonstrate ability to work both independently and in a team environment
Ability to work with minimal guidance; seeks guidance on only the most complex tasks
Product Safety, Engineering, or Quality experience in a Global role
Continuous Improvement mindset, ability and desire to improve and streamline processes
Strong analytical, problem-solving & data visualization skills
Demonstrate basic level understanding of Database Management
Experience with text modeling and working with unstructured data
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills
Able to provide explanations and information to others on difficult issues
Experience with Quality, Service, or Customer Experience related systems or processes
Trained and/or certified in Lean and or Opex
Expertise in statistics (Regression, Risk Forecasting (Weibull), Clustering, Decision Trees, Optimization, Time Series, Probability, and other related advanced methodologies)
Technical Expertise
Google Suite, Microsoft Excel (Visual Basic)
Database such as MS SQL / Any other Std DB
Tableau or related visualization tool
AWS Services (Redshift/S3) / Python Programming / GCP and Google App Script
