Job Function Summary
The Operation Manager will be responsible for overseeing the daily support of all trading activities related to the Futures and Options Business. Candidate should be able to work in fast paced environment and one that is continually changing/developing. Candidate must be proactive in adapting workflow to accomodate needs of the business, and must understand the importance of automation and the role it plays in keeping up with trade volume and scaling the business. Candidate must also understand the importance of identifying control gaps and solving for them tactically and strategically.
Principal Responsibilities
Lead and develop the futures and options core operations team in India
Oversee delivery obligations of the firm's future & options positions
Manage and oversee lifecycle events for the firm's futures positions
Initiate position management transfers of futures positions across FCMs
Coordinate amongst various internal and external stakeholders, to maintain controls, mitigate risk, and resolve trade/position related issues efficiently and effectively
Initiate, lead and partner on global and local initiatives and work with colleagues across the firm to implement process changes/improvements
Establish working relationships with trading teams in order to answer daily queries in a prompt and controlled manner
Oversee Daily Top day and T+1 matching
Oversee trade/position/cash/market value reconciliations in TLM/Gresham CTC. Ensure the Total equity balances are minimal at EOD
Oversee daily trade settlements/fails and fail resolution
Oversee corporate action processing
Oversee PB billing, commissions, and daily transfers of balances across prime brokers.
Over see accuracy of life cycle events and control
Mitigate operational risk by ensuring timely completion of recs and resolution of breaks.
Solidify relationships with multiple prime brokers/custodians
Coordination with various internal departments on trade issues (business, trading, technology, accounting, middle office, compliance, legal)
Produce and regularly update policies and procedures
Focus on process enhancement and efficiency. Identify process gaps and weak controls.
Create a culture risk, control, escalation and urgency
Qualifications/Skills Required
Bachelors' degree required
16+ years relevant experience in equity operations / support
Strong knowledge of financial instruments with emphasis on equities
Working knowledge of fixed income cash and derivatives as well as futures and options will be an advantage
Ability to implement and maintain new systems, procedures, and controls
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Must be able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
TLM / Gresham CTC/Imagine/murex experience an advantage
Must be able to work independently
