Job Description Summary:
What you need to know about the role
A seasoned manager with understanding of the frontend technology and having experience managing small / medium teams in their previous role. You will be responsible for working with a team of engineers in design, development, test, and deployment of a range of products on web platforms. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing experiences, a strong technical ability, excellent project execution skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

We are the customer-facing teams within Product and Platform Engineering building the touchpoints that interact with our customers across all stacks (PayPal, Braintree and Hyperwallet), across all channels (online and in-store, web and mobile) for our Merchants.

Within Commerce Solutions and Services, PayPal's Merchant Engineering team is looking for a talented front-end engineer with strong application engineering fundamentals and JavaScript programming experience to design and build solutions supporting our merchant engagement strategy.

Job Description:

You willbe responsible forDeveloping efficient, elegant, clean, reusable code with no unnecessary complication or abstraction. Mentor other engineers and developers by providing technical and business-related guidance and resources; Shouldexhibitownership and Deliver quality solutions on schedule. Will be responsible to create / Review well-articulated, detailed design documents.

Your day to day
People management responsibilities, managing a scrum team.

Translate product requirements into technical solutions and take end-to-end ownership of the task from development to deployment

Participate in architectural discussions to improve our tech stack

Evangelize best practices and produce innovative solutions to improve our quality and excellence initiatives

Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to make collaboration better between different teams

Mentor junior engineers in the teams

What do you need to bring:
Overall 10 years experience and proven experience as a team engineering manager.

Hands-on experience as a software developer, ideally in react or JavaScript, with experience across multiple layers of the application stack

Willingness to step in hands-on if necessary

Experiencein Agiledevelopment (and agile frameworks like Scrum andKanban) and commonly used tools likeJiraand GitHub.

Demonstrated ability to manage stakeholders across multiple functions.

Demonstrated self-motivation and self-direction connected with a passion for excellence in product and people.

Experience from fintech or retail sectors is a strong plus.
