JOB SUMMARY
The position sets and leads the technical and strategic direction of the software engineering department. The position is responsible for tactical and strategic decisions concerning the operability, sustainability, security, and scalability of TriNet's platform and applications. The position develops procedures and practices that support the execution of the engineering team's goals, while helping to maintain the focused culture of the team. The position is responsible for direct management and strategic leadership across multiple software engineering teams.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
• Develop outstanding strategic relationships with engineering peers and product, business, design, and user research teams to help define business requirements and solution architecture.
• Represents software engineering interests in interactions with product management, platform engineering, and technical operations leaders
• Defines, refines, and reports key performance indicators for the software teams to provide clarity on productivity, velocity, quality, and technical health
• Ensures scrum teams are delivering commitments on-scope, on-time, on-quality and on-budget
• Revises or directs revision of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements
• Lead across complex teams towards planning design, engineering and product launch
• Leads new developments in secure, performing, and reliable software development

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience preferred
• Master's Degree preferred
Work Experience:
• Typically 12+ years of software engineering experience required
• Typically 8+ years hands-on product development experience required
• Typically 6+ years people management experience
• Typically 5+ years experience working with technical & functional resources and following an Agile based delivery methodology
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Experience thinking strategically and executing methodically in a fast paced, entrepreneurial environment
• Experience in leading the planning and development of software and systems for complex services
• Experience building and operating large-scale, geographically distributed backend systems
• Experience with secure coding practices and secure software development lifecycles
• Excellent communication skills and executive presence
• Collaboration and relationship-building experience, working with all levels of management and individual contributors internally and externally.
